Today’s wake-up sketch is Jordan Gibson’s slick redesign of Hawkeye’s costume.

Doc Shaner drew my Hawkeye design! He made it look pretty awesome!

Kept thinking about Hawkeye so I went back and did another doodle over my other one. This time I tried to give him a little more classic midsection with the new helmet. Dropped his 90s ‘crossing’ logo, even though I think it’s pretty sweet. The first one with the helmet is on the left for comparison. 

Been wanting to take a crack at Hawkeye for a while. Doodled this out in 15-20 minutes based off of a few of Hawkeye’s designs. He has so many, it’s hard to do a definitive take. The mask is a mix of Nolan’s Batman helmet and Whedon’s Captain America helmet.

Just heard about Carol’s promotion to Captain Marvel. Hope she gets a cool costume. I always hated her original one, it looked like she was in the middle of changing but didn’t have time to put on her pants. 

Decided to draw out my Scarlet Spider redesign. Hope you all like it!

Slapped some quick colors on the one and only convention sketch I did at Austin Comic Con for my intern, Jordan. I split after the first day to pack my house before the move. I had the fortune of sitting next to Peter S. Beagle. we had a long adult conversation about everything except comics and the Last Unicorn.

I used Jordan’s pentel brush pen for this sketch, which I’m way too heavy handed for.

This is awesome!

Totally forgot I did this! I think it was the product of a late night drawing session. It looks kind of crappy, but I also sort of like how raw it is for me? I dunno, figured I’d post it up. I think it may be from sometime in the summer. 

In my head I imagined him sneaking back into the apartment and collapsing on the couch to watch some tv before he goes into the bathroom to clean himself up. MJ hears him and comes out to give him some ice cubs in a zip lock bag.

My first choice out of all of those would be Ryan Stegman’s second favorite though. The one that looks like red venom. It’s streamlined and the spider on his chest is ACTUALLY scarlet!

Scarlet Spider is a hard character to redesign because without the hoodie, the webshooters and the diagonal spider, he’s not really the Scarlet Spider. So basically all I did was find a trendier jacket to give him and then keep Ryan’s black and red colors.

Although if I had to lose the jacket, I’d try to use Ben Reilly’s Spider-Man costume so you keep that connection to the Scaret Spider somehow.

I dunno, these both probably suck but I feel that they’re closer to the character.

A Supaidāman manga?! Are you kidding me? Where can I get this, Marvel?

Check out this poster homage I just finished. One of the most endearing things about those old posters is that they’d always get the character’s costume wrong, so this is me attempting to be a painter in the 40s who’s just doing it for a paycheck.
