I just entered DeviantArt’s contest for The Wind Rises. Looking at the other entrants mine’s pretty vanilla but it was fun to do anyway. I tried to make it look like it was a leftover doodle from one of the Ghibli art books or something. Here’s the final and a few doodles.

Oh man you guys I found a screen capture from the super rare Ghibli Batman movie.
So I wanted to draw something Ghibli related tonight, but I ended up drawing these guys instead. Ghibli inspired Batman and Robin.
I figured that Miyazaki would probably think the idea of Batman to be a little silly. He’d want to make them look like they were real people in costumes rather than superheroic and tapered. He’d also want it to take place in the 30s or 40s probably, so I looked at the old Batman movie serials for inspiration.
